Mayday

Today, I'm not a happy camper. It's gloomy outside, my hair looks bad and wedding planning seems anything but fun. What I'm realizing lately (and maybe all brides realize this at some point) is that there's a lot of fun to be had in dreaming up the details and brainstorming the ideas, and there's a whole lot less fun to be had in making those details and ideas happen.

Sure, it would be great for the wedding party to stay at one hotel. Now who's going to reserve those hotel rooms? Yes, Maui would make the perfect honeymoon. Now who would like to find the hotel? I love the idea of printing labels for the Save the Dates! Now who's heading to Kinkos to print?

Unfortunately, the answer to most of those questions has been ME, and it's beginning to take a toll. The save the date cards went out on Saturday (look at those pretty stacks above). Does that mean there's no chance I could change my mind and run to Vegas?

P.S. - If any of you have experienced something similar and have tips for getting things done while enjoying the process, I would LOVE to hear them.

My dad was a wedding photographer and he used to do a lot of counseling with the brides. The one thing that always hit home was the fact that even if the flowers didn't show up, the food was wrong, or God forbid, the booze was missing, at the end of the day, the most important thing was that they were married. Don't let the details get you down. It will all be worth it and it just takes you, Mason and the officiant to get the job done. BTW, love the Save the Date cards!

Thanks, you guys! It seems that a passive aggressive call for help on your blog can go a long way in getting your fiance to step up to the plate and help out a bit ;)

I appreciate the advice, Susan! GREAT advice. And thanks so much Terrie - you are too sweet!

One thing I heard at a wedding about a month ago was a bride say, "I don't care if my cake tips over, or I fall down while walking down the aisle, if no one dances at the reception, I am marrying my best friend today and nothing else matters to me." It is soooooo true!!!!! LOVE YOU
