Mountain Weekend

Mammoth

We got back from our Mammoth trip yesterday afternoon, and even though I was happy to see Cajun, I couldn't help but miss our cozy little condo in the mountains. After the snow storm we had on Friday, the rest of the weekend turned out to be beautiful. (Check out those blue skies!)

My favorite part of the trip? Sipping Mammoth microbrews in the lodge with the girls while the guys hit the slopes on Saturday. Maybe I'll give skiing another try in the future, but for now, enjoying the snow from inside (where I can still feel my feet) is plenty good enough for me!

Mammoth Morning

Mason and I are in Mammoth for the weekend. I snapped these photos from our balcony this morning - wouldya look at that snow! It seriously hasn't stopped all day. More than thirty inches so far. The guys headed for the slopes early and came back looking pretty haggard. Sure am glad I stayed inside, sipping hot chocolate and catching up on my favorite blogs. We're supposed to be heading out into it later for dinner. I sure hope my toes don't freeze off...

In My Bag

In My Bag

Since Kerry over at The Seventy Tree made it look so fun, I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and show you guys the goodies that live in my bag as part of the Dos Family "What's in Your Bag Tour." After seeing everything laid out, I decided I've pretty much got all of the lip balm bases covered. (And no, it's never a good idea to leave the house without dental floss. Ever.)

Anyway, I hope your weekend was a good one. I'm happy to report that Mason and I did absolutely nothing during our three days off, unless you count sleeping in until noon, watching MTV marathons of "I Used To Be Fat" and eating Mexican food. We decided to save all of our energy for this coming weekend - which we'll be spending up in Mammoth - in a cozy little condo - celebrating a couple birthdays and playing in the snow.

Did I mention that I really, really can't wait? (This girl needs a getaway - bad.)

My Striped Pullover

Striped Pullover

Remember how I wanted a striped pullover? Well, I got one - a grey and white, super soft, comfy one - hip hip hooray! (And just in time because this weekend is supposed to be rainy and cold - perfect pullover weather.)

Tonight Mason and I have plans to go to dinner if we can beat the rain. Mason wants pizza. Actually, Mason always wants pizza. (What is it with guys and pizza??) I'll see if I can persuade him in a different direction, but if the rain comes, all bets are off. My hair and I don't do well in the rain. (We'd prefer to stay dry inside and watch reruns of Teen Mom 2.) So, I guess it's all up to Mother Nature at this point...

Wishing you a happy weekend!

When I have a family of my own, I want it to be as cool as this one.

(You can read all about "Miss" James and her fun family adventures on her Bleubird blog. If you're like me, you'll be hooked after one post.)

Valentine's Day 2011

Valentine's Day 2011

Wine + gifts + lasagna + cookies = Valentine's Day perfection. And then there was a fun little photo shoot with the glitter garland - which may have been my favorite part.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! I hope your day is filled with lots of love and heart shaped donuts (just like mine has been so far!).

Photos above from my weekend of V-day crafting. I attempted my own version of this garland and turned my craft room into a glitter explosion. The final product turned out b-u-tiful, if I do say so myself (even if most of my time was spent trying to keep Cajun's nose out of the glue - I think he might have a problem).

The cards pictured above were made with Cierra's lovely print outs. (I seriously love that girl's Friday Freebies.) The line inside is all mine, though - everybody likes a little cat humor, right? Yep, that's what I thought.

More photos tomorrow from the dinner we have planned for tonight. Until then, go get your smooch on! (xoxoxo!)

Valentine's Day Crafting

Valentine's Ideas

Ohmygosh, ohmygosh! I'm in love with the amazing Valentine's Day crafts I'm seeing all over the web, especially this garland, these chocolate bowls, this gumball necklace and these cupcake toppers.

Sigh. What can I say? I love Valentine's Day. (I'm also a poet who didn't know it.)

I'll be spending some time in my craft room this weekend seeing what I can whip up for my sweetie pie. If I come up with anything good, I'll let you know. Until then, have a great weekend!

Number 11

Big Wang's

Can be crossed off the list. Big Wang's was Mason and I's most favorite sports bar when he lived in Hollywood. We went there so much that it almost started to feel like we lived there (sort of strange when a bar stool feels as comfy as your couch) - but how can you blame us? Check out that sunshine and that sunset. It's pretty much sports bar perfection (and the BLT will change your life). I'm so happy we went back for a little visit. It really does warm my heart.

Let's Go To Luckenbach, TX

Luckenbach/Rudy's Goodies!

I know I said there'd be more birthday list fun today, but that'll have to wait until tomorrow - because today I'm too excited about the little road trip package that was waiting for me last night when I got home. Inside was a sticker, magnet and koozie from Luckenbach and barbecue sauce and seasoning from Rudy's - how fun is that?! A big, big thank you to my favoritest sister in the whole world for thinking of me on her epic Cali to Texas roadtrip! (I promise if I ever go on a roadtrip that cool, I'll repay the favor!)

Number 17

2011-02-071

Can be crossed off the list. After our hot dogs at Pink's, we wondered over to Amoeba Music for some record browsing, and holy cow - the records! So. Many. Records. We were in heaven, especially when we snagged Merle Haggard's "Back to Barrooms" for $4.99 and Eric Clapton's "Greatest Hits" for $1.99. Then, right before we left, Kate Micucci from Raising Hope surprised everyone with a performance on the Amoeba stage. Talk about icing on the cake, people. Two celebrity sightings in one day (Harvey totally counts) makes for a great little trip to Hollywood.

Number 4

2011-02-07 014ed

Can be crossed off the list. We waited in line for an hour - an hour - for a hot dog - but just when I was getting antsy, a TMZ camera crew showed up to interview the owner of Pink's. Getting to see Harvey Levin in person totally made up for the wait (well, that plus the onion rings on top of my "Lord of the Rings" Dog - yummmmm).

A Survival Plan

My Brianney

This weekend will be the first weekend since my sister drove herself aaaallll the way back to Texas (on a fantastic little roadtrip that totally included a stop in Luckenbach - *jealous*), and I'm a little bit nervous about my emotional state without her nearby for some Saturday/Sunday fun. By the way, that's her above - don't you just miss her, even though you don't know her? No? Ok, moving on - so, in an effort to make it through my first weekend sans sister, I present to you:

The First Weekend - A Survival Plan
#1 - Devote oneself whole-heartedly to scratching items off the birthday list
#2 - Throw an epic Super Bowl party
#3 - Sew the curtain for the kitchen window. I repeat, finally sew the curtain for the kitchen window.
#4 - Eat too much chocolate
#5 - Drink too much wine.

And that, my friends, is my plan for surviving the weekend with no (a few) tears. Wish me luck!

Honey Buns

Honey Buns
Sydney from The Daybook, Keiko from Keiko Lynn

I like big buns and I cannot lie (sorry, I couldn't resist) - but seriously, I so want a big bun like these lovely ladies have. If only my hair would grow already. Sigh. *yank on ends of hair impatiently*

By the way, my obsession with fashion blogs continues. I've added a few new favorites to my growing list, including Keiko Lynn and Kendi Everyday. Go ahead - check 'em out - and prepare to be inspired.

Around the House

Washington State Wall Hooks

Finally, a place for keys and hats and things! Did I ever tell you that in addition to the white wall hook I got as a Christmas gift from Mason, we also got the green one - handmade by my brother-in-law out of wood from the barn that used to be behind his house. How cool is that? Don't they look great together?

In other (totally unrelated) news, I realized today that Mason and I have already been married for half a year! Can you believe that? Where, oh where, did the time go... (And where, oh where, was my brain - hellloooo, no six-month anniversary celebration?? Guess we'll have to wait for the one-year.)
