Happy first day of summer!! In honor of the summer solstice, here's a little list of things I'd like to do this summer. Some are from my birthday list, and some are new. What are you looking forward to this summer?

Summer To-Dos:
Bake a cake
Eat ice cream cones
Drink lemonade
Read a good book
Paint my toes bright pink
Get a tan
Make homemade pizza
Swim here and here and here

Baby Swim

Baby Swim
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

Just because it's a rainy, dreary, chilly 50 degrees outside right now doesn't mean we can't dream about summertime, right?? Gap is killing it with their baby clothes lately. Wren wants it all! (Ahem, I want it all.)

How cute are these baby swim suits? I don't know how I'll ever choose just one! (Or just two!) Can you imagine them with filled with chubby baby thighs and big baby bellies? I die.

I hope you all have a happy Easter weekend! We're hosting an Easter brunch on Sunday, and we still need to finalize our menu. I love Easter, and I love brunch (aka mimosas) so it should be a great day - not to mention it'll be Wren's first Easter, and the Easter bunny is very excited about filling up her little basket. :)

August Goals
*I love the idea of fun, monthly "goals" like Elise does, so I thought I'd follow along. Feel free to join in on the fun!

Life Lately

Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately
1. Weekend dinner // 2. Frisbee Golf with friends
3. Post-dinner Baskin Robbins // 4. Baby kicks
5. Sleepy cat // 6. Coloring fun

Jon's daughter, Rowan, spends most of the year in Texas with her mom, but since she's out of school for the summer, she was able to come up and hang with us for a few weeks in Kentucky. She'll be heading back home in August. Until then, we plan on coloring a lot of pictures, eating a lot of ice cream (no complaining here!), visiting a few water parks and learning a whole lot about life with a five-year-old. Above are a few snapshots of all that we've been up to lately.

Day at the Lake

Day at the Lake Day at the Lake Day at the Lake
This weekend, we headed up the highway and through some windy back country roads to the cutest little swimming hole. With a big sandy beach area, it was the perfect place to look for "seashells" (or lake shells), swim with the fish and soak up the sun. It's one of my favorite places that I've been to since I moved up here, and I hope we can go back a few more times before the summer ends!

Happy First Day of Summer!

Happy Summer Happy Summer Happy Summer Happy Summer Happy Summer Happy Summer
It's beginning to look a lot like summer around here! Even though today is the official first day of summer, I've already been hard at work on my summer list for a while - getting summer haircuts, eating chocolate fondue and too many sno cones, visiting family, soaking up plenty of sunshine - and loving every minute of it!

Checking In

Philadelphia, PA
Wow, it's been a ca-razy few weeks. I've been busy getting set up with the new job and spent last week in Philadelphia for training. The photo above was snapped on the freeway in between the airport and the office - but sadly, that was pretty much all we got to see of the city. (We did manage to order in Philly cheese steaks for lunch one day, though and boy, were they goooood!)

In between training sessions, Cajun and I also found time to road trip down to Texas for a few weeks. Since Jon is away at a training school right now, I decided to squeeze in some family time. (Just one of the MANY perks of working from home, which I am still so grateful for.) It's been fun to spend time with my mom and dad in Beaumont and my sister in Houston. (This weekend, we're planning a trip to Galveston for some water park and beach time, and I cannot wait!)

Anyway, I just wanted to check in and say hello in the midst of all my summer fun and new job to-dos. As things settle down, I promise to be back in this space more, but until then - Happy Summer!

Summer List

My fun little summer to-do list below, inspired by this lovely lady:

1. Soak up some sun (lots of it, everyday).

2. Chop off my hair.

3. Eat breakfast on the porch.

4. Go to a water park.

5. Sit around a campfire.

6. Eat way too many sno cones.

7. Wear nothing but neon on my nails.

8. Plant flowers.

9. Find a pair of white jeans I love and live in them.

10. Read a great book. (Any recommendations?)

11. Visit family.

12. Paint the kitchen (and buy a table!).

13. Float in a lake.

14. Make chocolate fondue.

15. Thump watermelons.

What's on your list?

Canoes & Big News

Downloads8 Downloads9 Downloads10
I wish I could say the photos above are from this weekend, but they're not - they're from last weekend (and I'm a lazy, lazy blogger these days). Last Saturday, we went canoeing on the Red River, and it was a blast. These shots were taken at the campground before those fun buses brought us down to the river and our canoes. (I was too much of a chicken to bring my phone in the canoe - I'm not that coordinated.) We mostly floated, ate, swam and soaked up the sun for six hours, and it was really nice. I'd highly recommend it if you're ever in the Clarksville, TN area.

But fun weekend canoe trips aside, I've got BIG NEWS to share with you guys today! I GOT A NEW JOB! A JOB THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE A 2-HOUR COMMUTE! Sorry - I thought those two sentences deserved the caps, and yes, I am THRILLED. Thrilled, I tell ya. Not only will I get to WORK FROM HOME, but I'll also be working with one of my favorite people in the world -  my sister! Needless to say, it was the perfect opportunity at the perfect time, and my thankfulness overflows. I seriously can't wait to get started. (Yay!)
